I have been very fortunate to be a part of a groundbreaking First Nation company that has embarked upon a truly remarkable economic journey and yet I know that we have only just begun to walk down the path toward a more vibrant and prosperous future. We are extremely proud of the successful track record that our company has accomplished and at the same time we are humbled by the responsibility we have as a leader in business and for our people. The achievements we have made are a testimonial to our ability to overcome challenges and adversity while demonstrating the important contribution that our people have made and will continue to make in the mainstream economy of our Province and Country as a whole.

The long held vision that I have shared with so many others has been that of equity and a standard of living for our people comparable to that of all other Canadians. As I reflect back to early days I remember the impact of seeing the disparity between my First Nation community juxtaposed against the affluence of the neighboring town. It was as apparent then as it is today that the future of First Nations people is directly impacted by their participation in the economy. It is that very philosophy that Tribal Councils Investment Group of Manitoba Ltd. (TCIG) was created and it is this very belief that continues to be the cornerstone of our company.

Our business has experienced such dramatic growth over the years and we have become so diversified that I believe we have now far exceeded any of our original expectations. We have always been taught to consider how our decisions will impact the future generations and we now know that we cannot be constrained by our own preconceived beliefs but moreover that our prospects and opportunities are infinite. I also know that to be able to maintain this level of proactive development you must have to have sound direction coupled with effective operational skills and knowledge. The team we have assembled at both the Board and Management level has demonstrated the capacity to undertake virtually any enterprise that we set our sights on.

TCIG has had another banner year and I look forward to seeing our business continue to far outpace our earliest expectations.
